Ochlockonee River Water Trail & More...

5 K Trail Map in Cairo

The 5K trail map can be accessed through the AVENZA app. It is free and below are directions for downloading to your phone. ENJOY!

How Avenza Maps works
The Avenza Maps® app uses your device's built-in GPS to locate you even when you are out of range of a network or internet connection. Maps used in the app are geospatial PDFs, GeoPDF or GeoTIFFs. You can import your own, or find just the right one in the Avenza Map Store.
Already have a map? You can load up to 3 into Avenza Maps (more with a paid subscription).

Directions:
1. DOWNLOAD THE APP FROM THE APP STORE or GOOGLE PLAY onto your mobile phone.
2. Open the Ochlockonee River Water Trail or Cairo/Grady website on your mobile phone and find a variety of TrailMap PDFs.
3. Press and hold the specific map PDF to open the popup window that contains various modes for sharing and storing information, such as Message, Mail, Add to Notes and Copy to Avenza Maps.
4. Click open and copy to Avenza Maps.
5. Your specific TrailMap automatically will be loaded/added to the map list. It may take a few seconds.
6. You are ready to hike and navigate any of the walking/paddling trails available using your Avenza Map app.

What is a Water Trail?

Water equivalent of a hiking trail.  Blueways, canoe trails, and paddle trails are all water trails.
A water trail also has access points along the river, like trailheads, for putting boats on the water or taking them off.
Usually for non-motorized boats like canoes and kayaks.
Water trails can be various lengths and are used by paddlers, anglers, hikers and picnickers of all ages and abilities.

Check out our newest Paddle Map Book for the Ochlockonee River Water Trail. Prepared by Thomas University graduate students with Dr. Christine Ambrose.

Walking Trails in Cairo

ORWT sponsored a fundraiser, January 2020. The purpose was to make signage for a variety of community walking trails. The first round of signs for the trails has been completed, the 5K trail that begins at Holder Park. See our pdf map and instructions for using the AVENZA app to make your walk or run a pleasure.
